Job:    Part-Time Massage Therapist (8-10 hours a week)

Well versed in different types of massage including: Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Sports, Swedish and relaxation.

Pay: Hourly - Based on experience and skill level

  • All Supplies and patients are provided.
  • Therapy room will be available to Therapist for rental during hours not scheduled for Harmony Chiropractic patients.

Job Duties

  1. Confer with patient about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether massage would be helpful. Talk with patients about symptoms, medical history, and desired results.
  2. Assess patient’s soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion. Evaluate patients to locate painful or tense areas of the body
  3. Follow prescription from treating chiropractic physician and then develop and propose patient treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used. Communicate questions or suggestions to treating chiropractic physician.
  4. Massage and knead the muscles and soft tissues of the human body in order to provide courses of treatment for medical conditions and injuries or wellness maintenance. Apply finger and hand pressure to specific points of the body.
  5. Taking initiative for rescheduling cash patients and suggesting the frequency of care that is deemed appropriate.
  6. Document patient’s condition and progress each visit and maintain treatment records using office EMR.
  7. Take stock of necessary massage equipment and supplies and communicate need to supervisor for supplies to be purchased.
  8. Folding laundry.
  9. Conducting other general tasks as needed to help the office, like filing or organize mailings.


Communication skills. Massage therapists need to listen carefully to patients in order to understand what they want to achieve through massage sessions.

Communication skills. Reporting back to the doctor about how patients are responding to treatment and their compliance with their treatment plan.

Decision-making skills. Massage therapists must evaluate each patient’s needs and recommend an appropriate massage therapy treatment plan on the basis of that person’s needs.

Patient Retention. Discussing patient’s care with patient and encouraging them to reschedule based on treatment needs.

Empathy. Massage therapists must give patients a positive experience, which requires building trust between therapist and patient. Making patients feel comfortable is necessary for therapists to expand their patient base.

Physical strength and dexterity. Massage therapists must be strong and able to exert pressure through a variety of movements of the arms and hands when manipulating a patient’s muscles.

Physical stamina. Massage therapists may give several treatments during a workday and have to stay on their feet throughout massage appointments. Massage Therapist should use appropriate and efficient biomechanics and posturing to avoid self-injury.
