Dr. Royer Appointed by Governor

by | July 9, 2021

Dr. Bryan D. Royer has been recently appointed to the Chiropractic Loan Repayment Advisory Board by Governor DeWine.

The Ohio Chiropractic Loan Repayment Program is a program designed to increase chiropractic care in underserved communities in the State of Ohio. With the program, a chiropractor will serve in a designates medical health resource shortage area for a minimum of two years and treat patients regardless of their ability to pay in exchange for loan repayment assistance. These underserved areas might be rural or urban areas. This new program will be a mirror of the programs available for physicians and dentists. Remember the TV show Northern Exposure? This bill is self-funded by the chiropractic profession as $25 from every biennial chiropractic license renewal fee would go to the fund

Dr Royer will serve on the Ohio Chiropractic Loan Repayment Advisory Board as one of three representatives of the chiropractic profession. Director of the Ohio Department of Health, one member of the Ohio House, one member of the Ohio Senate and a representative from the Ohio Department of High Education will also serve as part of this new Board. This board shall determine the amounts that will be paid as loan repayments on behalf of participants in the chiropractic loan repayment program. Also, the bill seeks to make operational changes to the Ohio Chiropractic Licensing Board.

Rep. Rick Carfagna (R- Genoa Township) introduced the bill to the House. “I believe that Chiropractic care is one of the most effective, safest, and yet underutilized assets in healthcare,” Rep. Rick Carfagna said in a news release. “I applaud those in the Chiropractic profession who have shown that they are prepared to step up and grow their own ranks through the self-funding of this program.”
